Francesca Mallows was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied at Academie Populaire d’Arts Plastique in Paris, University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she was a Recipient of the 5th Year Traveling Scholarship (1982).

Among many exhibitions in the US and abroad, Mallows has had one-person shows at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Karen McKerron Gallery, Johannesburg; Gowlett Gallery, Cape Town; and Graphics 1 & 2, Boston. Her work is held in public and private collections in the US, France, South Africa, Switzerland, and the UK.

She lives and works on Long Island, NY, and maintains a studio in Delray Beach, FL.
